Good Guys Shoes & Co. Preview

Hey everyone, some of you may have already seen these on Discerning Brute or Facebookworld already, but I had to write something about them.  Good Guys, a Paris-based vegan shoe company recently released some photos of their upcoming Fall 2011 line.  It looks like the line will include some dope looking oxfords and desert boots for men, and boots for women.  It also appears they have gone the synthetic suede route rather than smooth leather, for a more rugged and casual look.

Here’s what I could glean from their FB page:

- not available until “after July.”

- hopefully, they will be available in the US

- prices will be around “149″ the currency was not specified but I’m assuming it’s the dollar.

See below for a gallery of pics I jacked from their page…

Adidas Campus 80s

Thank you CHA_1 for pointing these my way.  The Adidas Campus is an iconic sneaker from the, uh, 80′s that are basically the Superstar without the shell toe.  Now it’s available in waxed canvas, which is great for us.  Unfortunately, it seems like it’s only in one color – “lead vapour chalk” (in other words, grey).

Available at your local friendly Adidas online shop for $80.

10.Deep x PRO-Keds Veteran Pack

UPDATE 1/29/11: another update from Dave that puts the nail in the coffin on this one.  Inexplicably, it looks like these shoes have a leather INNER lining.  I don’t get it, but maybe it’s to provide the illusion of “luxury” that shoe makers do this.  Sigh.

UPDATE 1/25/11: thanks Bradford for your comment.  Looks like there are leather looking accents on the heel.  I didn’t pick up on that.  They might not be leather, but I doubt any of you will be willing to risk that.

10.Deep, an LA shop, is celebrating its 15th year anniversary with this excellent collabo with PRO-Keds. Dubbed the “Veteran Pack,” these two sneakers drape the Royal Plus model in camouflage and navy denim, sitting on a brown sole.

Available at the 10.Deep online store for $95.

Ecote Canvas & [Faux] Leather Backpack

Yeah, Vegan Kicks is moving beyond kicks.  We weren’t planning on branching out.  It just happened.  Sometimes we see something nice and want to put it on the blog, but it’s not wearable on your feet.  We’re hoping we can change that and still keep the site as focused as possible.  We will be sticking to clothing – the whole food thing, and animal rights advocacy aspect is being done a thousand times better than I can ever do it.  So we’ll stick to posting about things you can buy to impress your friends with unique, yet ethical fashion sensibilities.

Supra Dixon Blue Chambray

We’ve featured a bunch of shoes from Supra, and for good reason.  They consistently put out solid shoes in unique colors and designs, plus they are vegan friendly.  They’re often using materials that we don’t really see other sneaker cos mess with.  Chambray cotton is a great example of this.  It’s soft, comfortable, and classy.  It’s used to great effect in the Dixon.  What’s not to like?  Hopefully others will start following Supra’s lead and think a little outside the box.  For more Supra posts, go to “Tags” on the sidebar and scroll down to Supra.

Available at Zappos (on sale!) for $50.

Vans Zapato Del Barco True White

It’s not to early to start thinking about summer, right?  Where I live, we’re expecting maybe a foot of snow (and with a little luck, its accompanying snow day).  But whether you’re in warmer or frigid climes, sometimes it’s all about your state of mind.

Nothing says summer like pair of boat shoes (no socks, please).  The Vans Zapato Del Barco is a take on the classic style made famous by Sperry Top-Sider.  I compare it to the Slip-On in it’s nonchalance, with a bit more sophistication.  Fortunately for vegans, Vans put a canvas spin on it, with fabric laces.  And the white on white colorways is the best representative out of the bunch, in my opinion.

Available at Zappos or Urban Outfitters.

Keep Guerra

[Keep Guerra Brown Plaid]

I have featured some Keep shoes on here before, but I really don’t give them their due. They are criminally under-appreciated by sneakerheads everywhere, and virtually non-existent in the public radar. It’s really too bad, because they design some of the best kicks out there, vegan or not. Of course, they make it a point to use absolutely no animal products in their manufacture. Unlike other companies that feel compelled to use leather accents, Keep creatively weaves in different fabrics, colors, and textures that beat boring brown or black leather any day.

American Apparel Dancing Shoe

So, it turns out American Apparel doesn’t just make t-shirts and tights!  This “Dancing Shoe” is a pretty sweet find.  The “patent leather” uppers are actually polyester.  Too bad they couldn’t do that for those sweet boots they have too!   While these might not be for everyone, they are definitely for a serious night out.  Unless you can pull these off on the regs, then I applaud you.  Sorry about the small ass pictures, I don’t know what’s up with their website, but some places don’t give you high-res pics.

Men’s (black).  Women’s (black, white, navy) $52.

Vans Authentic Corduroy Monks Robe

I love me a good pair of cords.  They are so comfy, and warm, depending on the type you get.  I don’t think we see enough corduroy shoes.  Vans is always experimenting with different patterns and materials on their Authentic.  Here is the “Monks Robe” corduroy colorway.  I picked this one because brown just seems like the natural color.  That’s just my preference.  Other colors look artificial.  Nope, brown or tan works fine for me.  And so do these shoes.

Available at Wish or Eastbay for $47.  Also, the Blue and Dark Gull Grey colors are available at Zappos.
