Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Blood Stains” Halloween 2011

***UPDATE 3/30/11: I’ve been told that these are NOT VEGAN.  The inner lining is made out of suede.  How ass backwards is that?  Won’t that make you sweat even more?  Lame.  So lame.***

What’s up my VK mob, I hope everyone out there is doing good and staying positive, wherever you are.  I wanted to blast a quick one here, just because to be truthful, I’m not really feeling this particular shoe.  The Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Blood Stains,” for Halloween 2011, is a canvas (all vegan!) shoe in a sandy tan khaki color, and obviously, has blood stain patterns throughout.  You know, I don’t know how I feel about cos flooding the place with all these wacky colorways.  Maybe I’m too old for this sh*t, but I just like my kicks clean and simple.  What do you guys think?

If you want more pics, holler at High Snobiety.

*Shout out to Mike B. for hitting me up with the tweet on this.*

Vans 106 Grey Pinstripe

Here’s my pick of the week.  Another fine colorway from Vans with this 106 in grey pinstripe.  Subtle and unadorned, but still stands out from a crowd.

Available at Urban Outfitters for $65.

Topman Claude

I’ve been sleeping on Topman for a while.  More than one person have sung its praises, but I resisted.  No mas!  I suppose my prejudices against Kate Moss and the snooty fashion world she represented led me to believe that I’d want nothing associated with her.  But real talk, Topman has some good shit.  Take Example A, the Claude in grey canvas.  You know, I think canvas dress shoes are really starting to come into their own.  Pretty soon you won’t feel like an outlier for rocking them, they’re really starting to become more common.  And they look pretty damn sleek.  Who says you need fake leather to have the look?

Available at Topman for $92.

Vans Old Skool Black Canvas

Yo, I know I’ve been on the skate shoe tip a little too hard lately, but I had to put up one more.  I just couldn’t resist.  These new Vans Old Skool in all black canvas are just way too nice.  I was never a huge fan of the Old Skool, mainly because I wasn’t feeling the color combos.  But when I saw this colorway, I understood why it’s such a classic.  The silhouette is so sleek, and paired with the right colors, it can really work.  Here’s such an example.

NOTE, however, that the lining on the top of the inside part of the ankle.  It looks a little glossy from the picture.  It might be a leather liner.  But it might be synthetic, or maybe waxed canvas?  I’ll update when I find out about that.

UPDATE 3/20/11: Thanks for the comments everyone, I just wanted to confirm withchall that my sources confirm that the upper is entirely textile (or perhaps synthetic), as verified by this photo below… which is great because I really wanted to get a pair.

Available at Premier and Zappos. [also available in "pure" white]

By the way, Vans released a whole bunch of shoes in canvas for spring 2011.  I already highlighted the Half Cab.  I’m not too crazy about the other ones, plus the Zero Lo has some suede on it.  Let me know what you guys think!

Generic Surplus x Wood Wood Olney

Very excited about this nice collaboration right here, between Generic Surplus and Wood Wood.  Generic Surplus is an LA based shoe company whose original design for the Olney bike shoe was quite heinous.  Wood Wood, a Danish label, re-did it with water resistant canvas, and a rubber toe overlay.  The colors and design are simple yet sophisticated.

Available in black and olive at Generic Surplus or Bows and Arrows for $105.

Vans Half Cab Canvas

Hey everyone, I got back from my trip a short while ago, and just finished settling in.  I wasn’t going to do anything for the blog until tomorrow, but I figured you were all itching to find out what I had up my sleeve, and were going into withdrawal for your sneaker fix.  Well wait no more, peoples.  I present to you, the Vans Half Cab in canvas.  Mike, who gave me the scoop, put it as “the other holy grail” of vegan sneakers/shoes (the first one being the Nike Dunk).  Ah, yes, one of the best and most loved skate shoes of all time.  Much like other Vans classics, these don’t go out of style.  Oh, and they are great for skating too (though the canvas probably won’t last as well as the suede).

Available in Black, Blue, and Red – with white sole.  Currently, only on sale at the Vans Online Store in black, for $55UPDATE: Also available at Zappos in red and black, $55.  More colors to be issued sooner rather than later, hopefully.

Out of Office…

Hey guys, I won’t be here for the next week or so – I’m going on vacation, bitches!  Sunny and warm St. Lucia, here I come!  I know you readers out there are so upset that you won’t be getting my twice or thrice a week postings of random non-leather shoes.  But I think you will survive.

Here’s a little postcard:

Jealous?  See you all in a week! Here are some pics from my trip I uploaded to Flickr.  Enjoy!

Es Spring 2011 Vegan Shoes

Es Holbrook Low Blue

This is coming a little late, but never hurts to spread the word.  Looks like the skate shoe companies are all releasing their Spring 2011 lines.  Fortunately for us, Es (and Emerica) put it out officially their vegan shoes in a nice neat format.  My faves are the First Blood Mid in Camo, and Holbrook Lo in shore blue.  Which ones are yours?  Click on thumbnails for high res pics.

Converse Pappalardo Ox Canvas

I know, I’m being redundant.  But the streets is talkin, man.  New Converse is what’s up right now.  Okay I have no idea what I’m talking about.  But these Converse Pappalardo Ox in tan canvas are pretty sweet.  From what I understand, the stripes and star are painted on the textile.  Go skateboarding!  Now!

Available at Premier for $60.
