Vans Chukka Boot

Gotta heart the Vans Chukka Boot. Thanks for making this in canvas. Would like to see this in black upper with a WHITE SOLE.   Come on, black on black just looks weird, especially with the vulcanized sole.

Available at Zappos: Red, White, Black for $55

Asics Onitsuka Tiger California 78

Hey everyone, I just found these and I thought you would all be pretty psyched on them, as am I.  The Onitsuka Tiger shoes from Asics are pretty much universally loved, a perfect unisex shoe.  This particular model, the California 78 is a classic retro running shoe that invokes images of the Nike Cortez.

Zappos is selling several vegan colorways now, pictured here.  Be mindful, however, that the others are not deemed vegan, nor are the other models of the Onitsuka Tiger.  Also, though we haven’t gotten direct confirm from the manufacturer itself, I generally trust the representations made by Zappos.  They aren’t an evil or lazy company, and if you buy them and they don’t turn out to be vegan, then you can always return them for free!  Seriously, they have the best return policy.  No questions asked, they pay for shipping both ways.  Anyway, check the pics out below and click on the link for more deets!

Etnies Malto LS

Etnies is a down company.  Just the name brings back a lot of great memories of my childhood, when all we used to do is skate.  All these years later, the company is still going strong, and just poking around their site, I’m impressed with some of the stuff they’re involved with, such as Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree (full disclosure: I like to hug trees).  But they’ve also given vegans some love, and unlike a lot of shoe companies, they actually promote their animal loving creds!  Surprise, how easy is it to make a “vegan” page with all your animal free products, and have a little icon next to each shoe, just to inform those who care?  It sure makes our lives easier.

Converse CVO Mid White

Although this release of a Converse CVO Mid in pure white is pretty much unremarkable, it doesn’t get any cleaner than this.  An already minimal shoe, this one is almost uniform in color, except for the stripe running around the sole, and the little black tag on the tongue.  It must be work keeping these clean, but at least you can always throw them in the wash!

Available at DQM for $60.

Vans Era Pique Pack

Vans always updates their classics with different materials and colors, but without seeming trite or played out.  They always manage to stay ahead of the curve.  This Era Piqué pack is no different.  Here, they incorporated a twilled cotton upper, similar to that used in polo shirts, but with a raised weave of parallel cords.  This gives it a plush, soft look, and the colors really pop.  I’m really digging the color combos on these.  Maybe not so much the black, but the red and yellow are especially dope.

Available at select Vans retailers.  You can get the red and black at Premier.

Keep Animal Collective Series

Ramos Geologist Shark

Normally I am skeptical about bandshoe collaborations, but when you combine one of the premier indie groups of the day, and the consistently fresh stylings of Keep, we all win.  Dropped on March 26, 2011, the Keep and Animal Collective line features four shoes, each designed by a different band member.

Lugz Strider Denim

When I think of Lugz, I keep seeing images of thug ass rappers in the 90′s rocking some oversized jeans, sagged way low, and of course some prominent boots to match.  Timberland was the iconic brand, still is.   Lugz always seemed to be an imitator, and never really made a mark beyond a niche under the umbrella of “urban” wear.  But looky what we have here.  I can’t say I’ve seen a wallabee boot done in denim, but my memory is shot.  It’s probably been done before.  But speaking of 90′s, the wallabee was also a big deal back then.  Anyway, here is a good one from Lugz, the Strider Denim.  I’m definitely feeling the black denim over a lighter color too.

Available at Karmaloop.
