Good Guys Aponi

Word on the street was that Moo Shoes was starting to stock Good Guys, and now some of them are here! Unfortunately, selection is quite limited, so I’ll just start off with the Aponi.  Not sure what there is to say other than that they are dope.  It’s a simple oxford, but unlike a lot of vegan shoes that try to do this, they actually look… good.  Really good.  The material is faux suede, and so far you can get these in beige (gray) and brandy (brown).

Click down for more pics.  Available at Moo Shoes for $175.

Palladium Canvas (Fall 2011)

Here in the tri-state area, the weather has abruptly gone cold, signaling the end of summer :(   With that I have cold weather clothes on the brain.  Here are some dope new (colors) Palladium boots in canvas.  These rugged, vintage looking boots are constructed of a one-piece rubber outsole and stonewashed canvas upper.

The Baggy is the high boot with the fold down collar.  Available in black and mustard.

The Pampa Hi is largely similar, sans the fold down tongue and collar.  Available in grey and khaki.

Get these at Premier.

Vans Del Norte Mid

Hey all, sorry I haven’t been around in a minute.  I’ve had a busy week-and-a-half, with moving and starting a new job.  Needless to say, I’ve been squeezed for time.  Speaking of work, I had to deal with the semi-trivial problem of figuring out what to wear for “Casual Friday.”  This is the first time I’ve ever worked in a corporate setting, so it was a novel scenario for me.  Come to think of it, I’ve never had to wear business casual, so I basically have to figure out a whole new wardrobe without breaking the bank.

There is a point to this story.  I needed to figure out what shoes to wear.  Someone told me no sneakers.  But then someone said sneakers are okay, but no flashy ones.  Alright, I get that.  But which ones are acceptable?  Fortunately, I had a pair of black Converse Chuck Taylor’s on hand, and that seemed to fly with the my bosses.

If you want to play it safe in that type of situation, you can’t go wrong with something like the Vans Del Norte Mid.  It’s ankle boot style is slightly more formal, but it’s still a pair of Vans sneakers that you can wear to do pretty much anything.  The mid cut is great if you’re wearing more fitted pants, and the low profile sole keeps the profile even lower.  Overall, it’s pretty much a cleaner, slimmer version of the Chukka Boot.

You can pick up this gray version at Zumiez.  They also make a brown upper with black sole at Karmaloop.

Gourmet Uno C

Here is a little more of the same, but slightly different.  The Gourmet Uno C is your basic canvas mid sneaker wit gum sole.  But the twist here is the hold in the ankle.  It reminds me of the Nike Huarache shoes.  Ostensibly the cut out fabric in the ankle was to reduce weight.  Those shoes were pretty light.  But not like it matters here anyway.  No one is wearing these shoes on the court.  But at least visually it creates a bit of a change-up. Also take not of the two-toned laces.

You can cop these at Karmaloop for $65.
