Volley International Shoe

The Volley International Shoe is a classic, low profile tennis shoe.  And I use the term “tennis shoe” here liberally.  You should not play tennis in these.  You’ll probably get blisters.  And a friend I knew from Texas used to refer to all sneakers as tennis shoes.  Isn’t that odd?  Texans.  I ramble.

But I’m feeling the Volley because they’re reminiscent of the Rod Laver (Volley Int’l is Australian too!).  And it’s very annoying because you cannot get a Rod Laver without some kind of leather on it, even though most of it is canvas.  Argh.  But you can get these!  I contacted the company, they told me that there are no animal products used in this shoe.

Another interesting question is, what is the name of this shoe exactly?  The company is called “Volley International.”  Are they just “shoes?”  When you go on their website it’s called “Volley Shoes.”  I guess that makes more sense, but I just get confused.

Anyway, you can get these at Swell (a pretty cool surf store, never heard of it until recently)

    Im Australia, we just call them “Volleys”. Dunlop have been making them since 1939.

    They’re generally pretty cheap in department stores, so don’t get ripped off online…

    I’m from Texas and just about everyone from here says “tennis shoes” for all sneakers regardless of what sport if any they are for.

    These cost $40 on swell.com and agree are super comfortable.

    I have actually never seen these at a store in the U.S.

    See above comment. I suppose the novelty of these shoes are why they are $40. But by US sneaker prices, that’s not really that expensive. For example, Chuck Taylor’s cost $45.
