Welcome to Vegan Kicks!  I’m a vegetarian trying to discover and spread the good word animal-free footwear.  Well, I should qualify that.  See, the I’m subject to the same biases and preferences that effect all of us when we judge on looks.  For the most part, I post on what I like, and what my background has disposed of me to like.  This means that you’ll be seeing mostly sneakers, and within that category, what could be dubbed “retro” styles.   I also grew up skateboarding, so as that has been a big part of my youth, and also a motivating force that drove me to love sneakers so much in the first place.  I’ve also played and watched hoops for much of my life, so that niche has its place in my heart as well.  Oh, and most importantly, I’m a guy!  I’m sorry for you ladies out there, but I don’t go trolling for women’s models.

So I apologize if you don’t like what you see.  I try to post things I don’t even necessarily like, because I’m no arbiter of taste, and I’m looking for people to respond anyway.   But… if you like what you see, that’s wonderful.  I started this blog due to the frustration of not finding any source that occupied this sneaker+veganism combination.  I hope that this blog does the trick for you.

I designed this site to be as simple and least cluttered as possible.  It’s deliberately updated with specific shoes for each post (mostly), a format I feel is easy to digest and fun for readers to check up on regularly.  I tried to figure out a way readers can use the right-hand column to find kicks by company name, or some other type of heirarchical link organization, but I opted for minimalism instead.  If you want to find something, I suggest you just type it in the “Search” box up top.  I find that it’s quick, easy, and you’ll get what you are looking for.

Sometimes, I’ll come across some information regarding a whole slew of vegan shoes by a company, let’s say New Balance.  I’ll usually post them under the link “Company Info” on the right.  This is not authoritative, and is constantly changing, adding, subtracting, editing.  But if you want browse a bunch of shoes made by one company, this is the place to look.
