Today, April 20th,  is a cult holiday celebrated by devoted followers of a certain recreational drug.  People all over the country, the world perhaps, gather with their friends, loved ones, and strangers, in their homes, at parties, sitting around in circles, standing in line, and smoke some marijuana.  It is self indulgent, and many would say irresponsible, but hey, these people are just taking one day to enjoy something they like, and to relax… isn’t that what holidays are about?

Dear Readers:

I have to apologize for my laziness.  Recently, I have posted on a few shoes I thought were vegan, but turned out not to be.  This wouldn’t be a big deal had it not been so obvious and been happening with increasing regularity.  These mistakes have been pointed out to me by you, my readers, who have been so supportive and understanding about my lapses.  However, I don’t want to lose your trust.  That’s why I am committing myself to conduct better due diligence before posting, to make sure that I’m trying my best to determine that these shoes are in fact cruelty-free.  This will not necessarily be a perfect process, because there is a learning curve to this.  I can just look for the few brands that make vegan shoes and post frequently on them, but I’m not really interested in that.  I would rather find vegan or vegetarian shoes that are made by some of the bigger names or lesser known releases.  This often makes it harder to verify some shoes as vegan.  But I believe in the integrity of the site more than anything.  Without that, you will think I am a hack.  So you can rest assured that I will be more careful and scrutinizing about shoes that are not billed as vegan, but I am putting on this site nonetheless.  That is all I can guarantee you.  As for the non-vegan shoes I mentioned earlier, I will not delete those posts, but will correct them or make notations to let future readers know (I can’t expect them to all pay attention to the comments).  Thanks again for your support, I hope that you keep reading, commenting, and helping me make a better blog.

This has nothing to do with vegan shoes, but I had to re-post this.  It’s a picture from a Paris fashion show.  Apparently it is part of a collection made out of fake fur by Karl Lagerfeld.  Clearly he is trying to mimic the garb of Inuits and Eskimos, people who really need them for warmth.  And something about a male model strutting down a runway with this on kills me.  Look at the guy on the right doing Blue Steel!  Awesome.  See Discerning Brute for the original, less snarky post.

As you may have noticed, there is a not-so-discrete banner in my sidebar.  After several months, I want to see if there’s any chance of monetizing this blog.  I’m not going to apologize for trying.  Man’s gotta eat.  But what I do want to know is if it is annoying.  Like, did you come to the site, see the ad and were instantly turned off?  Is it too intrusive?  I put it on the bottom of my sidebar originally, but you can’t really see it unless you scroll down.  So I moved it to the middle.  I hope it doesn’t impede any of your viewing experiences.  If it does, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.  Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Yes, I am realizing that it is the 21st Century.  I wish I could just post a handy little icon on the side, but some people aren’t so tech savvy as of yet.  Look for it soon though!
